The Scorcher is a timed, online competition available in selected digital resources powered by Cambridge HOTmaths and Edjin.
Students can compete against other students in their class or school or against students in their state by answering a series of multiple choice questions relating to the content they are working on.
By default, the Scorcher is timed and students will see their score, the time it took them and their ranking after completing the quiz.
Students can choose to complete a Scorcher untimed by sliding the Untimed button on in the top right of the Scorcher page. Timed results will rank higher than untimed results on the Leaderboard.
If student want to remain anonymous on a Scorcher leaderboard, they can go to the Account settings icon and check the box at the bottom of the page.
Scorcher competitions can be found at the end of a section or chapter in the Interactive Textbook.
Teachers can also Set a Scorcher Competition for a class. Students must complete these Scorcher competitions in timed sittings.
Teachers can add a Scorcher activity when setting a task. These are also timed-only Scorchers tasks. Click here for instructions on how to use the Task Manager.
